Welcome to the Wyoming Veterinary Technician Association (WyVTA)

The WyVTA was formed in 1999 to help foster communication between veterinary technicians, assistants and office support staff throughout the state.

As a young, growing organization, we had some lofty goals:

To provide annual continuing education (CE) for technicians and assistants
To administer the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) twice yearly
To administer a certification process for technicians in Wyoming
To have the state Veterinary Practice Act recognize and outline the responsibilities of technicians
To continue to educate the public about veterinary technicians

Since 2006 the VTNE administration of the VTNE has been handled by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB).  Technicians must now be graduates of an AVMA accredited school to take the test.

Certification in Wyoming is voluntary and is being administered by the Wyoming Veterinary Technician Association.  It is our goal to have as many technicians in the state as possible become certified to help strengthen our effort to have technicians recognized in the Wyoming State Veterinary Practice Act.
